What is a Kids Yoga class Like?!

I bet it is sooo fun! I hear that all the time. And yes I love to teach kids and yes it is fun. It is also loud, structured, unstructured, quiet, silly, chaotic, calm, and more. We sit, we stand, we do our sundance, we dance a lot, we balance, we fall, we meditate, we giggle, we cry, we sit down without participating, we get mad, we get sad, we get happy. All of this and more happens in a thirty minute yoga class with toddlers. I only wish the expression that happens in kids yoga would be similar to an adult yoga class. But alas we have been taught to express all of that mostly in private. Sometimes I will teach to blank faces and other times every child is moving their body. It is a real experience in presence and being in the now.

As a kids yoga teacher, I have very low expectations for what class will be each day. I arrive with an idea of where to go and what to do, but I often throw it the window and am guided by the energy I am met with in the room. Following ones intuition is key to being a kids yoga teacher.
