transformation
As adult humans we understand the concept of transformation. We see it in nature multiple times over, we experience it ourselves many times over and we consciously know it is not the most comfortable time in life. I teach this to the lil yogis (I am so grateful to teach) through caterpillar to butterfly metamorphosis! We begin in resting caterpillar pose or janu sirsasana. There we thank our bodies from our toes to our head by literally patting body parts and saying thank you! Thank you toes, Thanks you knees, Thank you belly, etc until we reach the crown of the head! Then it’s into the cocoon we go. We bend our knees, give them a hug and hide our head in our knees for three BIG cocoon breaths! Then comes butterfly pose or baddha konasana. We rest there to dry out our butterfly wings and bring our nose to our toes. Here is where many lil yogis complain that it hurts in which they understand that transformation can be uncomfortable. I of course let them know they are stretching muscles which can feel like hurt, but it is actually helping their bodies. Then we fly like butterflies lifting our torso upright and flapping arms and legs. There you have it folks! TRANSFORMATION or METAMORPHOSIS!
